Txakoli from Getaria

Both winemakers and the Basque Administration made great efforts to recover and improve the wine’s quality, a joint effort that was rewarded in 1989, when the Txakoli from Getaria was granted the Designation of Origin under the name “Getariako Txakolina” (Txakoli from Getaria). In 2007, this designation was extended to the whole Historic Territory of Gipuzkoa.
The Regulatory Board for this Designation of Origin, located in Getaria, has the mission to watch over the origin of the local grapes, its careful elaboration and the quality control, so it all comes together to offer the consumer the highest quality of Txakoli from Getaria.
