Something
specific of Gipuzkoa has been the establishment of a structure
guaranteeing life-long training. To this end, the integral training
of people is promoted either to encourage their professional
and technical entrance in the labour market or to improve the
ability of people already at work to carry out different jobs.
Because of this fact, Gipuzkoa offers one of the best education
systems in Spain. Starting from primary school right up to university,
passing through prestigious vocational training centres. Companies
have always backed training, and there are Technical Centres
in different sectors financed by the own companies of such sectors.
Some of these sectors are
Machine-Tool, Paper, Wood, Construction, Graphic Arts, Boilermaking/Welding,

Universities
are also trying to create closer links with the business world in
the classrooms and during the training periods of the students in
the companies, adapting as well its educational offer to the new needs
by incorporating new degrees, such as the Telecommunications Engineering,
recently esta-blished.
This educational scene is completed by a selection of Master's Degrees
and Post-Graduate Courses, not to mention the Summer
Courses organised by the University of the Basque Country, and
their international lecturers.
Companies, the Government, and the Guipuzcoan society in general keep
a close eye on plans for Continuous Training.
They also invest strongly in training itself, well aware of the fact
that the process of preparing Human Resources requires the continuous
updating of techniques and knowledge, positions and skills.
In short, Gipuzkoa is strongly committed in the establishment of a
life-long learning system structure. |
