The
fact that Guipuzcoan companies tend to be small in size has
led to a double industrial reality: on the one hand are companies
that direct their products to the domestic market and, on the
other, industries which supply end products or essential parts
for the products manufactured by other international companies.
The disappearance of world trade barriers has obliged Guipuzcoan
companies to widen their horizons and become more international.
Many products have succeeded in entering new markets, while
other companies still have their sights set on international
industries.
Likewise, strong development of the Guipuzcoan techno-logical
sector has made it possible for a number of inter-national technological
applications to be carried out from a Guipuzcoan base and has
meant that technological projects promoted by the European Union
have been awarded to Guipuzcoan companies.
At the same time, a growing number of Guipuzcoan companies are
undertaking the establishment of premises in the main economic
areas worldwide.
These factors have all contributed to improving the confidence
of foreign investors, who have considerably increased their
presence in the Guipuzcoan industrial fabric |
