A Platform for investment and enjoyment
The Urnieta industrial belt.

Due to its fine fishing, agricultural and stockbreeding activities, Gipuzkoa has been historically recognised as one of the great industrial cradles of Europe. Thanks to its deeply rooted entrepreneurial culture, this province can now offer a highly developed industrial structure and skilled labour force. Its excellent companies and high quality products "Made in Gipuzkoa" are well-known on the main international markets.

The Gipuzkoan industrial fabric basically comprises solid, well-equipped, small and medium-sized companies capable of providing fast solutions to market demands.

Several of the most traditional companies in Gipuzkoa have overcome the challenge of diversification, adapting themselves to the present-day by setting up modern companies and important industrial groups in widely ranging activities including iron and steel, electronics, telecommunications and household electrical appliances; not forgetting other aspects such as technology, design, marketing, services offered to companies, and the new information and communication technologies.

Up-to-date company management techniques, experience accumulated over years of industrial activity, people’s professional skill level, as well as the influence and solidity of important financial entities have all contributed to making an important economical future possible for Gipuzkoa.

Thanks to the fiscal autonomy enjoyed by the Basque Country, Gipuzkoa County Council has drawn up a series of essential tax and financial aid programmes for renovating the business structure within the province. The laying of foundations for guiding business management into the 21st century means that local industry has an extremely promising future.

Gipuzkoa’s industrial activity is based on a highly developed structure. A good example of this is the metal activity from its initial processing at the steel mill up to its subsequent transformation. The tradition of forging goes back to ancient times in Gipuzkoa; the Mirandaola Forge, for example, dates from the early 1400s. As a contrast, the microsystems are a sample of advanced technology.
