Thanks to its architectural
characteristics and well-preserved structure, the Igartubeiti farmhouse
is one of the most interesting historical buildings in the region, and
was acquired by the Gipuzkoa Provincial
Government at the beginning of the 1990s.
The recent restoration project
aimed to return the building to what it would have looked like after the
extension work carried out in 1630 (the most drastic modification to date).
Although this extension would have substantially enlarged the family’s
living area, it hardly altered the original 16th century structure, enabling
modern-day visitors to appreciate the different building methods used during
each era, as well as the evolution of the living spaces and their respective
use.
